Children’s Activities
GODLY PLAY
Godly Play is the backbone of education for our younger elementary children. It’s the educational method we use on Sunday mornings and we have even used it for Vacation Bible School.
We have found it produces greater faith maturity in children than traditional educational methods and children retain the core biblical stories much better. But what is Godly Play?
Godly Play is an innovative method of Christian education that helps children recognize, explore and strengthen their innate sense of God’s presence. This is done using some very traditional elements of the Christian faith – parables, Bible stories, silence and liturgical actions – but it is quite different from traditional models of teaching. When can your kids experience Godly Play?
- Sunday Mornings during Sunday School, 9:45-1045 a.m.
- Sunday Mornings during worship, following the children’s sermon.
PARENTS NIGHT OUT
Kids need time to be kids and parents need time to not be parents. Research is beginning to show that children are suffering developmental from a lack of unstructured play. So at times we offer an evening of “Classic play at an epic level”.
What’s that mean?
Classic play is all of those classics activities that kid’s seem to instinctively love to do, such as, building forts with sheets, playing with boxes, running games, playing in water, building things with blocks, etc.
Each Parent’s Night Out is designed around one of those kinds of activities and then we pull out all the stops immersing ourselves in that play. For example, when we had Cardboadpalooza we went crazy building tunnels, houses, and all kinds of cardboard creations literally using nearly half a ton of cardboard.
And parents…well, you get a much needed and well-deserved break for the evening. Drop the kids and your worries off and go enjoy yourselves.
