SESSION MINUTES
SPECIAL MEETING OCTOBER 11, 2006
The
Session of the First Presbyterian Church,
Elders
present were Richard Sexton, Fran Keasler, Billie Ford, Carla Lacy, Sheila
Moore, Don Johnson, Lynn Jackson, David Williams, Dean Ransdell, Cordell Klein,
Clerk Stacy Cogbill, and Moderator Reverend Dianne Brown. Also present was Bob
Ransdell, Moderator of the Building Committee, Richard Hall, Member of the
Building Committee, and Architect Wayne Trull. Elder Lil McClerkin had an
excused absence.
Reverend
Brown declared a quorum present and opened the meeting with prayer.
Reverend
Brown said there were three items of business for the Session.
(1) Reverend Brown said that
since Reverend Joe Hill, Executive Presbyter, was going to lead the Elder
Training on Sunday, October 22, 2006, she would like to ask Reverend Hill to
preach that day.
MOTION
- was made by Billie Ford and seconded
by Richard Sexton to ask Reverend Joe
Hill
to preach on Sunday, October 22, 2006. The motion passed.
(2) Lynn Jackson said she would
be able to attend the November meeting of Presbytery.
MOTION
- was made by Dr. Cordell Klein and
seconded by Richard Sexton to elect
Jackson
as commissioner to the regular meeting of the Presbytery of the Pines
in
Jonesville, Louisiana on November 17 and 18, 2006. The motion passed.
(3) Building Committee Moderator
Bob Ransdell and Architect Wayne Trull discussed the construction/
renovation project. Mr. Ransdell said that the
original bid was $464,000.00; however, after some
negotiations and revisions the final bid was revised
to $409,000.00. Most of the reduction in the bid came from changes in the
elevator configuration and specifications.
The low bid was from The McDougal Group of Texarkana, Texas.
MOTION - was made by Richard Sexton and seconded by Fran Keasler to accept
and sign the
bid
and contract by The McDougal Group at the figure of $409,000.00. The motion
passed
unanimously.
It was agreed that the Clerk of the Session would
sign the contract with The McDougal Group.
