SESSION MINUTES

SPECIAL MEETING SPETEMBER 12, 2007

 

 

A special meeting of the Session of the First Presbyterian Church, Texarkana, Arkansas was held on Wednesday, September 12, 2007, at 5:45 p.m. in the Library/Session Room.

 

Elders present were Dr. Larry Davis, Pat Davitt, Martha Nell Richards, Charles Morgan, Fran Keasler, Billie Ford, Carla Lacy, Shelia Moore, Don Johnson, Lynn Jackson, Dr. David Williams, and Moderator Reverend Dianne Brown. Also present was Clerk Stacy Cogbill.  Elder Richard Sexton was absent. 

 

Reverend Brown called the meeting to order and gave the opening prayer. She stated that the purpose of the meeting was to consider a report from the Nominating Committee concerning approval of a Search Committee for the Music Director’s position. She said there were also some other items of business to address.

 

NOMINATING COMMITTEE REPORT

 

Lynn Jackson, Co-Moderator of the Nominating Committee recommended the following members to serve on the Search Committee for the Music Director’s position: Danny Gray, Moderator, Gene Cogbill, Anne Douglas, Nelda LeBoeuf, and Bob Veon.

 

The Session approved the recommendation from the Nominating Committee by common consent.

 

CORRESPONDENCE TO THE CLERK

 

Mr. Cogbill presented two requests for use of the facilities:

 

1.      Nelda LeBoeuf requested use of the sanctuary and part of the Fellowship Hall on February 13, 2008, and April 9, 2008, for Wednesday Music Club concerts. 

2.      Linda Cogbill requested use of the Fellowship Hall on Saturday, September 29, 2007, for presentation

of a card ministry as a possible mission opportunity for our church. 

 

MOTION -           was made by Charles Morgan and seconded by Fran Keasler to approve the                                  requests.  The motion passed.

 

PROPERTY COMMITTEE

 

Don Johnson said that one of the large air conditioner units for the sanctuary had failed and had to be replaced. The unit was 21 years old. Due to the urgency of time, the Session had verbally (by polling) given approval to have the unit replaced on September 10, 2007.  The cost of the equipment and installation was $5,893.62 and the Session approved, by common consent, the expenditure and work.

 

ADJOURNMENT

 

There being no other business, the meeting was adjourned with prayer led by Reverend Brown.
