SESSION MINUTES

SPECIAL MEETING MARCH 28, 2007

 

 

The Session of the First Presbyterian Church, Texarkana, Arkansas met in a Special Meeting on Wednesday, March 28, 2007, at 5:30 p.m. in the Library/Session Room.

 

Elders present were Dr. Larry Davis, Pat Davitt, Charles Morgan, Richard Sexton, Fran Keasler, Billie Ford, Carla Lacy, Lynn Jackson, Dr. David Williams, and Moderator Reverend Dianne Brown. Also present were Clerk Stacy Cogbill, Reverend Ralph Burns, and confirmands Greer Veon, Claire Norton, and Alan Burns.

 

Reverend Brown called the meeting to order and gave the opening prayer. She said the purpose of the meeting was to receive the confirmands.

 

Each confirmand told about the classes he/she had with Reverend Brown and each read his/her Faith Statement. Reverend Brown then asked the confirmands specific questions relating to their becoming members of the church.

 

            MOTION -     was made by Charles Morgan and seconded by Lynn Jackson to

                                    receive Greer Veon, Claire Norton, and Alan Burns as members

                                    of the church. The motion passed.

 

Reverend Brown said that Alan Brown would be baptized by his grandfather, Reverend Ralph Burns, and that this would take place during the morning worship service on Sunday, April 1, 2007. She said that all the candidates would be asked the confirmation questions again during that service. 

 

Reverend Brown said that Reverend Burn’s wife, Rebecca Burns, would like to have her membership transferred from the First Presbyterian Church of Ashdown, Arkansas to our church.

 

            MOTION -     was made by Dr. Larry Davis and seconded by Charles Morgan to

                                    approve the transfer of membership for Ms. Burns. The motion

                                    passed.

 

 

Reverend Ralph Burns closed the meeting with prayer.
