Ways FPC Members and Friends can Continue to help with Relief for Haiti

After the devasting earthquake in Haiti, where our Men of the Church support the Haiti Education Foundation, many wonder how we can help.

Donations can be made to HEF, to Presbyterian Disaster Assistance or to Ferncliff Camp and Conference Centerwhere hygiene kits are being prepared.  The PDA website also includes updates and resources for churches during this time. You may also choose to give via the Red Cross.

Another place to donate is Living Waters for the World, one of the missions supported by our Presbyterian Women and Synod of the Sun. About 50% of their projects have been affected.  They plan to rebuild in partnership with Solar Under the Sun , a new mission of our synod. Click here for a letter regarding the current situation in Haiti.

Thanks to FPC Junior High Youth, Will GlosterMatt Arnold, Madeleine Pellegrin and Laura Alyse Davis, who gave their time over Martin Luther King holiday weekend for mission work in Little Rock. They  assembled PDA/Church World Service hygiene kits for Haiti at Ferncliff and worked at missions of First Presbyterian Church, Little Rock. Thanks to Arkansas Presbytery and Ferncliff for hosting them.

Please continue to keep the people of Haiti in your prayers.

We pray for Haiti

God of compassion
please watch over the people of Haiti,
and weave out of these terrible happenings
wonders of goodness and grace.
Surround those who have been affected by tragedy
with a sense of your present love,
and hold them in faith.
Though they are lost in grief,
may they find you and be comforted.
Guide us as a church
to find ways of providing assistance
that heal wounds and provide hope.
Help us to remember that when one of your children suffers
we all suffer;
through Jesus Christ who was dead, but lives
and rules this world with you. Amen.
