FPC will be hosting the presbytery meeting of the Presbytery of the Pines on Saturday, February 10, 2018. The Session and the Presbytery thank you all in advance for your willingness to help with cleaning, food preparation and hosting during the meeting! Please come and see what happens at a presbytery meeting. Worship begins at 10:00 a.m., and the business meeting should conclude around 3:00 p.m.
Presbytery will also be hosting a special guest, Dr Jorge (pronounced Hor-hey) Cardenas, moderator of the Synod of the Evangelical Presbyterian Church of Chile, our presbytery’s mission partner in South America. Dr. Cardenas is a practicing psychiatrist in Chile, as well as an ordained minister of the Evangelical Presbyterian Church. He will be sharing with the Presbytery about mission work between the PCUSA and the EPC. Dr. Cardenas has graciously accepted an invitation to stay over Saturday night and be with our congregation for Sunday School and worship on Sunday, February 11th. (This is also Boy Scout Sunday, and all are invited to a spaghetti luncheon afterwards in the Fellowship Hall!)
During the Sunday School hour, Dr. Cardenas, along with Dennis Smith, regional liaison for Presbyterian World Mission/South America, will be available in the Fellowship Hall to share with us how the PCUSA is a part of God’s mission in South America. And, we may possibly learn how South America is a part of God’s new mission to us! This special class will begin at 9:45 a.m. Dr. Cardenas has also agreed to preach during our worship service.
Please come this Sunday morning and don’t miss this unique opportunity!
