Youth Ministry at FPC is all about connection–Youth connecting with God, one another, and adults who can walk along side them as they grow in faith. We strive for a balance of study, mission, fellowship and fun on Sunday evenings. We also have many special activities such as lock-ins, float trips, trips to Magic Springs, etc. Currently our Jr. and Sr. High Youth meet together. We have a wonderful mix of students from area schools and even other churches. Our normal meeting times are:
Sunday Evenings: 6:00-7:30 p.m., A light meal followed by a study and activity
Rose Hill Project.
In 2009, the youth prepared and placed wreaths upon the graves of Veterans at Rose Hill Cemetery here in Texarkana. A family member of one of the veteran’s contacted us asking if we could clean the head stones. Using only water and soft bristled brush, FPC Youth with a few guest youth from 2 other area churches, cleaned 247 headstones! This act of respect and kindness drew attention from people across Arkansas. The Disabled American Veterans Association, honored the church with an award for its efforts. The youth continue to clean the headstones each Summer.
Randy Sams Meal Service.
Once to twice a year youth prepare and serve meals to homeless people at the Randy Sams’ Outreach Shelter. This is a great opportunity for our youth to make a face to face difference in the lives of those in need in our community.
Vacation Bible School Leadership.
Youth help with everything from leading small groups and energizers to putting up decorations for our V.B.S.
Each year in May when we honor our graduates the youth of the church lead every aspect of worship.
PLUS… Souper Bowl of Caring, collecting pet food for local animal shelters, mission trips, fun trips, camps and plenty of fellowship!
Most recently, we went on a triennial Presbyterian Youth gathering in West Lafayette, IN called Triennium. Here is a video montage. It is silent but it gives you an idea of what went on.
