Rev. John Arnold's recent blog post     The Practical Disciple

FPC youth make the news!

Little did our youth think that when they went out to Rose Hill Cemetery to clean veterans' gravestones they would be making the news.  We also have received word that the state headquarters of the Disabled American Veterans picked up on the Associated Press release of the story and will be sending an award to our church.  Many thanks to Jane Portis, FPC Youth Director, for her hard work in putting this meaningful mission together.  To view the article as it appeared in the Texarkana Gazette, click here.

Family Night Supper Study--Marks of Discipleship

If you haven't been to Family Night Supper recently, come check it out.  Rev. John Arnold is leading a study on marks of discipleship as laid out in Rev. Glenn McDonald's book, The Disciple-Making Church.  We have completed looking at the marks, a heart for Christ alone and a mind transformed by the Word.  We are currently learning about what it means to have arms of love.  Rev. John is supplementing Glenn's work with practical guidance on how to grow in each mark of discipleship.  Dinner is at 6 p.m.  Study is 6:30-7:00 p.m.  Bring a covered dish to share.

Website Tip for Novices

If your pointer arrow turns into a hand, that indicates a new link.  Give your mouse a click and you'll be taken to a new page.  For example, click on the day for the Mission Yearbook and you'll go to the full page with the stories of the people for whom you are praying.

Canoe Trip--Lower Mountain Fork River, July 7,2009

Our youth are headed to Broken Bow to float the Lower Mountain Fork River and successfully navigate Presbyterian Falls (yep, that really is the name)!  We are headed to Beavers Bend on the morning of July 7th and return some time that evening.  The float pick up is at 5 p.m.  We will stop for supper on the drive back.    Bring a sack lunch, money for the trip or souvenirs from the trading post.  This is a novice level float.  Questions?  Call Jane, 870.774.6453.
